The 20XX Phenomenon- The End of The World ?

Use all your money; sell your house, car, and travel around the world and enjoy your life before the end of the World, 21st December 2012. Or maybe it was just a joke?
The 2012 Phenomenon[1] is a collection of prophecies based on an ancient Mesoamerican calendar, which believe something unusual is going to happen on December 21st, 2012.
Nothing had happened on 21st December 2012 and still these “end of days” phenomenon will still become a highlight in our every day lives.
Global Warming, pollution, habitat destruction, desertification…these are all essential problems of the 21st century. A single individual cannot be blamed for these; nonetheless every one of us should take care of his or her environment.
Recently, many presentations, conferences and international summits are held to deal with recycling and waste treatment. The 12th International Electronics Recycling Congress IERC 2013[2] took place in Salzburg, Austria. There were over 500 experts from industry, authorities and academia presented the newest information and challenges of recycling business.
People are trying hard to protect this World that we live in. We have to contribute every day to the preservation of nature and environment. For example, always remember to save energy by switching off lamps, computers and thing that we do not use.
Maybe some people thinks these are useless, but if we keep on destroy our environment maybe the next “20XX phenomenon” will become true!
Can you think about other solutions? Or can you suggest some effective recycling program?

  1. I think this is one of the most interesting contemporary issues to write about. As evryone knows, the Mayas did a prediction, on December 21st 2012 the world will end. The world will not actually end on that day, it has been proved that the Mayas were talking about the end of the world's life cycle, not the end of humanity! . "It's just a misinterpretation of the Maya prophecy" as the New York Times newspaper posted a couple of days before the "end of the world". As a matter of fact, the problem is lack of information, the human beings believed a man who understood in a wrong was the prophecy. In cocnlusion, it should be said that the world will actually end, even in a catastrophic way, but in a thousand years from today...

  2. The 2012 phenomena, was just a prediction of some very advanced, but still primitive group of people. The Maya’s prediction was a range of eschatological beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events would occur around 21 December. Nothing happened fortunately. Although the most absurd thing is that every couple of year there is a new doomsday prediction coming up, which up to now revealed itself to be false, again fortunately. Important is to consider the difference between, predictions and theories. A prediction, which is likely to turn out false, is one like the Mayas. A theory, which is like to become true in time, is to be considered more relevant; global warming for example, which has been proved by scientists, that eventually, will destroy the earth. Jeff t. W
